Landscape Training & Development
------------------------

Our vision to connect families to developmental opportunities inspired us to expand lot cleaning and greening to the development and implementation of a landscape maintenance and installation social enterprise. Our landscape enterprise has helped us to generate fees, create training and employment opportunities for community youth and build valuable relationships both in and outside of our community.

The Landscape Training & Development Program provides the youth with skills that are adaptable and transferable to other employment opportunities.  Skills such as, planning, scheduling, measuring, mowing, edging, pruning, soil amendment, plant and irrigation installation and small motor repair, most importantly, team work.

RBC operates the landscape training and development program out of our second facility, RBC TOO which is located just a half a block away from the Center. Our level of performance moved gradually from a modest lot cleanup summer youth project to gardening, landscape maintenance to lawn and garden services, mass plant and irrigation installation services.

Once again we are reclaiming abandoned, over grown lots. Our reclamation started at Rosedale and Tioga street and we are now at the corner of Tioga and Brushton. We are in the early stages of developing a native plant nursery and nature center. The Simon and Florence Hafner Native Plant Nursery and Nature Center will be an anchor and provide a priceless destination for a community that has had very little exposure to the rich field of horticulture the art and science of cultivating plants. We are constructing a path to the rich field of horticulture for our children, youth, young adults and elders. Again we are transforming trash into a treasure by claiming, cleaning and greening the vacant lots while connecting families to opportunities.
